1 small piece of ginger, grated
1 cup of water
1 cup of spinach
1 medium red apple
3 stalks of celery
1 carrot

This yummy smoothie will certainly put a zing in your step thanks to the ginger and celery it contains. It is also an excellent smoothie to consume as part of a calorie controlled diet because every ingredient is extremely low in calories, whilst remaining surprisingly satisfying. By consuming this smoothie you can also hope to benefit from improved eye health, faster healing from injury and better neurological health.

To make it, add all the ingredients to a blender and process until smooth.

Carrot

We often take the benefits of consuming carrots for granted, remembering only that we’re supposed to eat them to have good eyesight. But there are numerous other benefits to our health linked to eating carrots. Juice from carrots has been shown to kill leukaemia cells in a recent study and carrots in general seem to have potent anti-cancer qualities. It contains nearly 40% of the daily requirement of vitamin K per 100g serving. It is a low calorie food that is very satisfying, which makes it beneficial to those consuming low calorie diets.

Apple

Apples are amazingly beneficial to health, especially where the brain is concerned; it is thought that consuming apples can help to slow the onset of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. They also help to lower cholesterol and maintain healthy blood sugar levels. And because they are low in calories, apples make a great snack for people who are trying to lose or maintain a healthy weight.

Spinach

A one cup serving of spinach contains around 7 calories, yet is an abundant source of vitamins A, C and K and minerals like iron and magnesium. This makes spinach an ideal ingredient in weight loss smoothies. Health benefits of consuming spinach include better quality blood cell production, stronger bones and improvement in the symptoms of iron deficiency caused anaemia.
